I thought I was finally recovering but yesterday I had the hots & colds throughout the night and my chest is still rattling. I have given up on the house for now. Painting can wait. I need to get some good nutrition into my body. My DS is playing up. I not only have bronchitis I have ’shititis’ too. Every 6 hours and thats a good day. I am throwing tantrums at the bog. The loo thing is a bigger tale than just me sitting on it. We decided in our infinite wisdom to replace both toilets simultaneously. Very frikking clever. Not.
The thing is we had a cloakroom downstairs used as a junk storage place for ten years. The loo in it was ancient & broken. It was a daunting job to fix it all up so it became the place we lobbed all our clutter. Upstairs we have one loo and the times I have bum clenchingly bellowed at my family to get out and fast… does not bear thinking about. Poor family of mine.
Anyway the plan was we re-instate the cloakroom loo and lift the loo pressures in our house. We would recycle the top loo by using it as our downstairs loo and in our main bathroom we would install something swisher to complement the new bathroom to be…something wall mounted. Oh gawd.
Pete commenced with the plumbing as the quotes we got seemed exhorbitant. In retrospect we both wished we had just taken out a loan and had it done. It was a catalogue of disasters. The recycled loo idea was disaster. The bowl broke…it took a week to get it near to working…meanwhile the upstairs loo was not in situ. We had to run out into the cold garden all the way to the office loo which is located way down the bottom of our garden. I prayed I would not need a night visit … the garden is spooky at night.
Eventually the cloakroom loo is done after much cursing. By now my bowels just feel like adding stress to the whole affair, and I am crapping every 4 hours or so. Full blown DS steotoreah (sp?) 2 kilo mounds -lol …anyway, the stuff won’t flush…it takes 5 pulls and I feel like crying. I wait impatiently between each flush. The hallway is a melange of heavy oust smells..ok I’ll fess up… and worse. Pete finds out Labour , bless them… have passed a law on the amount of flush a loo can have. Just enough to flush a normal poop. Well thank you. I understand conserving water is important but so is my sanity. Besides I now flush up to 5 times to deposit my number into the sewage system. I am wasting water and I am so miffed off I don’t think I care anymore. Labours plan is backfiring in my case. I feel like marching infront of downing street. Theres no consideration for those of us who might need a little extra water to get a clean flush.
The upstairs loo is installed. I am in the kitchen downstairs painting the cupboards when there is a godalmighty deluge of water from above. It drips through the light fitting causing me extreme panic. I frantically get on the phone to Pete while shoving every kitchen vessel I own beneath the leaks. My ceiling is bowing dangerously. Pete runs upstairs, more expletives and frantic yelling for a bucket. We have domestic strife. Where must I find a fooking bucket???
My paint has water on it and I am not charmed. Pete twists his arm painfully while trying to manouver the giant loo bowl into place. It’s just a huge catastrophe. I get morbidly depressed.
However life is not all bad. Today I sat on the huge bowl and in awe watched the bozo being swept off in one magical flush. Halleluja. We have breakthrough! At least one loo works reasonably effectively. And it looks good too.
My bowel is slowly coming right. I’m every six hours as opposed to 3-4 & it’s much more bearable. I’m eating right. I am cooking again - no nasty take outs. I went to Costco & bought bulk chicken, bulk mince, bulk lamb. Also a huge salmon, a lamb roast, fillet steak and a belly of pork. I cooked a storm in day one and have loads of good DS food in the fridge. Bolognaise (no pasta), Lamb curry, various chicken dishes. Last night we ate Pork belly with 5 spice, bok choy in Hoisin sauce & egg fried rice. I’m eating much more veggies too. We had the best soft roast lamb last week. It made me want to cook & better still it made me want to eat. I am feeling better about this. My nutrition is back on the ball. I want to head back to an 8-12 hour digestive transit number though. I think I might start a wee course of acidophilus this week in the hopes. But I can cope 6 hourly if needs must.
I’m still not right. But things are looking up. I hope. ![]()
